Back in 2018, my friend Steve Boyce came up with a remarkable idea to create a series, based in our local village of Hythe, about a traffic cone called Cornelius. During the lockdowns of 2020, I read the stories to my son and together, we became so inspired by Cornelius Cone, his friends and the world they inhabit, that we began coming up with ideas for future adventures. When we shared these ideas with Steve, he offered me the opportunity to write some new adventures alongside him to compliment the world that he created. Thank you Steve for allowing me into this world of imagination and with over 80 ebook adventures available, we're still going strong!!

The New Adventures Of Cornelius Cone And Friends is a series of over 80 ebooks featuring a traffic cone named Cornelius who goes on many adventures with his friends in the countryside village of Hythe, near to The New Forest on England's southern coast.
Throughout the adventures, Cornelius Cone is ably assisted by his best friend Bennie Barrier. Together they often find themselves in trouble with their close friends, Postman Pete, Tricia Trolley, Wet Floor, Susie Suitcase and many more.
After 84 adventures together, Cornelius Cone and Bennie Barrier sat upon a hilltop together and discussed their many adventures together. It was the first time that they had discussed how they were feeling and it opened up a chance to take the series in a new direction.
When Cornelius Cone flew away on Ellie, The Helicopter in the Christmas adventure; One Last Christmas, Bennie Barrier made the decision to leave Cornelius Cone's Maintenance Team and try to make a life of his own in the big city of Southampton.

How It All Began
The original and best Cornelius Cone adventure. Steve Boyce takes us into the world of Cornelius Cone in the original first adventure. After being knocked off of a bridge and into a river, Cornelius Cone encounters Tricia Trolley who finds herself stuck and in need of some help. Together, they begin a quest which leads to an everlasting friendship.
Sam's Slip And Trip
The 2nd original Cornelius Cone Adventure from Steve Boyce intoduces Wet Floor and Postman Pete to the series. After Sam has an accident at the supermarket and then falls down a pothole, Cornelius Cone and his friends are on-hand to find the solutions.
The Earth's Crust
Steve Boyce's third adventure sends Cornelius Cone into the mystical world of dinosaurs, plastic-free bubble wrap and a few rather confused posties.

Bennie Barrier's Big City Adventures - Volume 1
A New Adventure For A Beloved Character
The success of the Cornelius Cone series, especially in the local area where it has been embraced by the local schools has been remarkable. Steve and John will continue to create Cornelius Cone adventures in the future however, in 2022, John took on the challenge of creating a second children's series that still held the charm of the Cornelius Cone adventures with a significant twist. Rather than surrounding the characters with the friendly neighbourhood of the countryside, this adventure would take place in the big city.
Bennie Barrier has been a close friend of Cornelius Cone ever since the third adventure, The Tale Of The Missing Cone. Through over 80 ebook adventures, Bennie and Cornelius have been inseparable. In the most recent Christmas special however, Bennie and Cornelius sat upon a hilltop and reminisced for a while. This transition gave the characters and readers alike, the space to express how they feel without fear of judgement. To acknowledge the mental health of the characters as they grew apart and foreshadow what turned out to be Bennie Barrier's big decision to leave Cornelius Cone's Maintenance Team behind and begin a new life in the big city.
Now in a similar vein as when children leave their primary school friends behind to head into secondary school, Bennie Barrier now finds himself in Southampton City Centre, having to make new friends, navigate his way past new enemies and his only connection to his past life are three minor characters from the original series, Barnaby Bollard, Bradley Bollard and Bruno Bus.
Throughout the series, there will be cameo appearances from Postman Pete, Tricia Trolley, Wet Floor and even Cornelius Cone himself however, the aim of the new series is to give Bennie Barrier the chance to become a main character on his own merit. With two compilations due to be released by the end of 2025, Steve Boyce releasing his 4th illustrated adventure and the new Cornelius Cone website going live soon, there's a lot for fans of Cornelius and Bennie to look forward to.
Bonzo Bin's Bananas
In an unofficial triple bill of tales as part of the Bennie Barrier series, this adventure completes the overarching storyline of Bennie Barrier being betrayed by Carlton Cone as they worked together to repair a burst water main on the city's toll bridge that takes traffic across the Itchen River which flows out into the sea. Bonzo Bin is desperate to visit the zoo and feed the animals and is determined to get there whatever it takes. By doing so, he inadvertantly gets caught up in Bennie and Carlton's disagreement. When friendship and trust is in short supply, Bonzo soon discovers that a catastrophe is not too far away.
Carlton Cone's Catastrophe
In the second of the unofficial triple bill of tales, Bennie Barrier, Cordovan Cone and Tricia Trolley discover new friendships in the city whilst Carlton Cone plans to take over the city centre maintenance team in Bennie's absence. As Carlton begins to round up the stray animals from the city's shelter, Bennie Barrier discovers that he still has some old friends that he can count on.
Tilly Trolley's Trip
In the first of an unoffical triple bill of tales, Tricia Trolley and Wet Floor join Bennie Barrier and his friends at the football stadium out on the edge of the city where Rupert, the recycler, is demonstrating his latest invention; wheels that can help trollies climb stairs. When Tilly Trolley is selected to participate ahead of Tricia Trolley however, Tricia soon shows that sisterly rivalry is still very much there between the two trollies. When an emergency call is placed for support at the toll bridge, Tricia Trolley soon discovers that not all of Bennie's colleagues are friendly.
